| FirstStop WebSearch, LLC evolved as a result of unexpected fame. In December 2000 Brush Systems Group, Inc. (BSG) released FirstStop WebSearch™ to the public as freeware to test its meta search performance. During the first week, we experienced thousands of down loads and in the following weeks we received an overwhelming number of awards and kudos from grateful users.
Over the next four months we registered over a quarter million downloads. This presented a great opportunity, but an interesting challenge for BSG. BSG had all of its resources committed to a demonstration productą for FirstStop Component Technologies™ (FSCT). Also the intended user interface for the web search was based on using an Internet browser. The Windows interface was only intended to be temporary to facilitate the public testing of the search performance.
Consequently, FirstStop WebSearch, LLC was formed in January 2001 to refine and market the web search component. FirstStop WebSearch™ was officially released on May 1, 2001. |
